What is Mount Pleasant Home & School?
Mount Pleasant Home & School is a non–profit group of parent volunteers who work to enhance the quality of school life for all Mount Pleasant children. We work jointly with the school to ensure open communication and a closer relationship with Mount Pleasant staff, while enhancing school spirit. We believe that together we can make a difference
Mount Pleasant Home & School often raises funds to enrich our children’s learning experiences. Most importantly, Mount Pleasant Home & School facilitates some community events, school activities, and coordinates volunteer positions throughout the entire school year such as:
- Back to School BBQ, Craft Fair, Fun Day, Green Team, Movie Nights, Special Lunch Days, Staff Appreciation Week, Winter carnival etc.
- French and English book fairs
- Library (volunteer staffing)
Success Stories and Fundraising Projects
In recent years, Mount Pleasant Home & School has successfully coordinated fundraising for extra materials and equipment that have enriched our students’ learning experience. Some examples of these include:
- A play structure for the primary yard
- A play structure for the senior yard (coming soon!)
- Books for the school library
- Busing for sports events
- Classroom materials that support Universal Design for Learning
- Classroom sets of iPads and upkeep
- Cross-country ski equipment
- Guest speakers
- Musical instruments and the Mount Pleasant Music Program
- Smartboards for some classrooms and upkeep
- Snow shoes
- Student subsidies
